Unilateral Inguinal Hernioplasty

UNILATERAL INGUINAL HERNIOPLASTY. SURGICAL PROGRAM FOR MINIMUM ACCESS

Inguinal hernia occurs when the abdominal muscle weakens or breaks in the groin area and through this space the abdominal organs such as the intestine begin to leak out, forming a bulge.
Inguinal Hernioplasty SurgeryWMinimally Invasive Inguinal Hernioplastyhat is an inguinal hernioplasty?
The inguinal hernioplasty consists in arranging the protuberance in its place and placing a synthetic mesh in that defective area of the groin to strengthen the muscle and keep the organs in the correct place. Over time the muscle recovers and closes while the mesh disintegrates.
A hernioplasty is practiced in order to close this muscular hole to prevent it from growing and for the organs to come out of their place.
The only effective treatment for inguinal hernia involves an operation. The intervention can be open or minimally invasive (with laparoscopy). Most operated inguinal hernias heal completely without any problems.
In laparoscopic surgery the surgeon makes three to five small incisions in the lower part of your abdomen.
A medical device called a laparoscope is inserted through one of the incisions. This device is a thin and illuminated probe with a camera on the end. It allows the surgeon to see inside your abdomen.
A harmless gas is pumped into the abdomen to expand the space. This gives the surgeon more space to observe and work.
Other instruments are introduced through the other incisions. The surgeon uses these instruments to repair the hernia.
The same repair will be done as in open surgery.
When the repair is complete, the laparoscope and the other instruments are removed. The incisions are sutured to close them.
