INFORMATION TO THE TRAVELER ABOUT TRAVEL INSURANCE TO ENTER CUBA

As of May 1, 2010, the Cuban authorities require travel insurance with medical expense coverage to enter the country.

The traveler can purchase insurance of this type in his or her country of origin, prior to the trip, or can purchase it upon arrival in Cuba, at the point of entry to the country.

In this last case (purchase in Cuba, upon arrival), the options you will have the traveler are:

Option A

Coverage

  • Medical expenses due to sudden illness and accident. 10,000.00 Limits (in USD)
  • Repatriation and Transportation. 10,000.00 Limits (in USD)
  • Personal Civil Liability 10,000.00 Limits (in USD)
  • Judicial Bail Advance 15,000.00 Limits (in USD)
  • Assistance 1 000.00 Limits (in USD)
  • Price per person per day: 2.50 USD

Option B

Coverage

  • Medical expenses for sudden illness and accident 25,000.00 Limits (in USD)
  • Repatriation and Transportation 5 000.00 Limits (in USD)
  • Price per person per day: 3.00 USD

ONLY FOR INSURANCE PURCHASED AT DESTINATION (Cuba)

Travellers who intend to participate in sports competitions or practice high-risk sports (mountaineering, diving, skydiving, etc.), must pay, in addition to the ordinary premium, an extra premium of 2.00 USD per day. Likewise, those over 70 years of age must pay an extra premium of 2.00 USD per day.
